Hamilton applies for $1.467 million for industrial park site preparation through ‘Growing Alabama’ program

HAMILTON — The City of Hamilton will be applying for $1,467,000 in funding through the “Growing Alabama” program to develop two sites in the Hamilton I-22 Industrial Park after the city council approved the measure at a special-called meeting on Friday, May 16.
The council first heard a presentation from C3 of Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance President and CEO Tom Wisemiller, who explained how the process would work to hopefully obtain monies to do two separate site preparation projects.
One site or “pad” would be located on three acres, with the pad being able to hold a 25,000-square-foot tech building, or spec building, in the future.
The other site is a combined 9.5 acre area, able to hold a larger 50,000-square-foot spec building, which could also be designed to be enlarged to 75,000 or even up to 150,000-square-feet.
The base bid for the site preparation is for the same amount as the grant application of $1,467,000, with Forestry Environmental Service, Inc., having the low bid. The price includes clearing and grubbing, top soil work, excavation, materials moving and laying out of both pads.
