Lady Raiders 1A state champions

CULLMAN — The Marion County Lady Red Raiders track and field team won the 2023 AHSAA 1A State Track Meet on Saturday, May 6.
The Lady Red Raiders won with a total of 91 points, defeating second place Winterboro (58 points) and third place Loachapoka (46 points).
Hackleburg’s girls’ team finished in 19th place with 10 points, and Brilliant placed 25th with five points.
Marion County’s boys placed seventh with 46.5 points. Ahead of them was Hackleburg’s boys, who placed fourth with 62 points. Phillips was 22nd with five points.
Marion County
Marion County’s Lilly Franks placed fourth in the pole vault.
Jenna Kay Hollis won as part of the 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams, and placed 14th in the 400 meter dash.
Leiporshia Lipsey placed third in 300-meter hurdles, and Claire LeDuke placed 16th. Lipsey also finished third in high jump, and 10th in long jump.
Madison Lipsey placed sixth in the 100-meter dash and fourth in long jump.
Zoe Lucas placed fourth in the 1600, and won the 3200. She also helped lead the 4x800 relay team to victory.
Anna Prather won long jump and placed eighth in the 100-meter dash. Prather also threw discus at the state meet and placed 19th.
Caroline Pyron was the state champion in pole vault, and she was also part of the winning 4x800 relay team. She also threw javelin and placed 11th.
Zoe Sodl ran on the winning 4x800 relay team.
Adrian Randolph threw javelin and placed 13th.
McKinna Riddle finished seventh in the 1600.
Lily Robinson was part of the winning 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams, and she also placed ninth in high jump.
Alecia Shack helped the Lady Red Raiders win the 4x400 relay.
Alexis Webb placed sixth in the 1600, and McKinna Riddle placed seventh.
Jasmine Wilson placed fourth in the 800, and also helped lead the 4x800 team to its win.
For the Raiders’ boys’ team, Cade Atkins was the high jump state champion, and he placed 12th in discus.
Tye Madison won boys’ pole vault, and Jose Luis took second place. Wyatt Franks claimed fourth place.
Carter Stephens finished in fourth place in the 1600, and ran on the 4x800 relay team, which finished in ninth place.
Tye Madison also finished third in high jump. Wyatt Franks placed 10th in triple jump.
Other boys who competed at the state meet included Dalyce Floyd in long jump, Max Herdzik in the 1600 and 4x800 relay, Reagan LeDuke in the 1600 and 4x800 relay, Daniel Hernandez in the 4x800 relay, Zack Lamoureux in the 200 and Jameson Webb in triple jump.
The Red Raiders were coached by head coach Susan Seals, Mineo Lindsey, Kelee Baker Williams, Alana Pollard Hawkins, statistician Blaine Pyron,  Kyle Williams and Dakota Berryhill.
Brilliant
Abbygail Humphries finished in 23rd place in the 200 meter dash preliminaries.
Humphries also placed eighth in high jump, ninth in long jump and sixth in triple jump.
Tatum Barton placed eighth in discus and Laine Johnson was 17th in javelin.
Jaeden Lipsey placed 17th in boys’ high jump.
Carson Lawrence placed 19th in long jump.
Bruin Hulsey placed 13th in shot put.
Jerry Lothrop placed 10th in boys’ javelin.
Hackleburg
The Hackleburg Panthers also competed at the 1A state meet in Cullman.
Hackleburg’s boys’ team just missed the podium in fourth place with 62 points.
Daniel Cooper won the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Cooper also placed second in long jump and second place in the boys’ 400-meter dash.
Luke Herring placed fourth in shot put and third in discus.
Sawyer Johnson placed fourth in javelin.
Mikylah Blackburn won the bronze medal in the girls’ 100-meter dash, and finished 11th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Courtney Posey placed seventh in discus, joined by Kali Gardner in ninth place and Emma Murray in 13th place.
Murray also placed seventh in javelin.
Phillips
Phillips’ boys finished in 22nd place with five points.
Victor Marchan placed fifth in the 800-meter run.
Marchan, along with Brayden Ricketts, Josh Mann and Lathen Burton placed 12th together as the 4x100 meter relay team in the preliminary round.
Ricketts, Marchan, Burton and Hayden Jordan also ran the 4x400 and finished in ninth place. Phillips also claimed eighth place in the 4x800, with Bryant Saylor taking the fourth leg.
Brayden Jordan placed 14th in shot put.
Josh Mann placed 21st in the 300-meter hurdles.
Lathen Burton placed ninth in high jump.
Emma Kate Gilliam placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries and Madison Woodard placed 19th.
Gilliam also placed 14th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Natalee Ward placed 15th in girls’ shot put and javelin. Emma Hall placed 18th in javelin.
3A - Winfield
Winfield’s boys’ team placed 17th with 20 points, and the Lady Pirates finished 27th with six points.
Ella Chaffin finished 15th in the 400-meter dash.
Audrey Spillers ran in the 1600 and finished in 16th place.
Lizzie Muck finished in 23rd place in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries.
Arie McCollum finished sixth in shot put and in discus, and she placed 10th in javelin.
Andrew Wallace finished 23rd in the boys’ 100-meter dash preliminaries.
Jarrett Hosch placed 14th in the 200-meter preliminaries. Hosch also finished in 10th place in the 400.
Kane Hendrix finished in 24th place in the 110-meter hurdles preliminaries.
Winfield’s 4x400 relay team placed seventh. That team consisted of Hosch, Wes Estes, Dawson Klein and Gunner Cagle.
Estes, Klein, Will May and Dylan Benton ran the 4x800 and placed ninth.
Aidan Quinn placed 18th in high jump.
Benton and May tied for sixth place in pole vault.
Andrew Wallace finished in 18th place in long jump and seventh in triple jump. Sean Wyers placed 17th in triple jump.
Wyers also placed ninth in discus. Adan Aldridge took 15th in discus.
Aldridge was the 3A boys’ state champion in javelin. Wyers placed eighth, and Nicholas Haney placed 19th.
4A - Hamilton
GULF SHORES — The Hamilton Aggies traveled to Gulf Shores to compete in the 4A-7A State Track Meet from Thursday through Saturday, May 4-6.
Hamilton’s girls finished the meet in sixth place with 32 points. The boys finished in seventh place with 36 points.
Jane Wiginton placed 15th in the girls’ 800-meter run. Madelyn Hulsey finished in 17th place.
Maya Jones placed 10th in the 1600.
Meg Wiginton finished in fifth place in the 100-meter hurdles, and was the 4A state champion in the 300-meter hurdles.
Gracie Sanderson placed 16th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Hamilton’s 4x800 team placed fifth, consisting of Maya Jones, Madelyn Hulsey, Anne and Jane Wiginton.
Addison Gann placed 12th in high jump, and Kyra Casey won the bronze medal in long jump.
Jordan Parker finished 15th in high jump.
Aubrey Sorrells claimed fourth place in triple jump, followed by Casey in sixth place.
Myia Sizemore placed ninth in javelin and Jordan Parker finished in 15th place.
In the boys’ 100-meter dash, Dylan Seagraves won the bronze medal. He also placed 10th in the 200.
Joshua Webb placed 17th in the 800 and 13th in the 1600.
Elijah Dollar placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and Dawson Taylor placed seventh in the preliminaries. Dollar placed fifth in the finals and Taylor was eighth.
Dollar also placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles. Keyondre Ford finished in seventh and Taylor placed 13th.
Hamilton’s 4x100 team placed seventh, consisting of Dylan Seagraves, Dawson Taylor, Keyondre Ford and Hayden Ables.
Ethan Robison was the 4A boys state champion in pole vault, and Jake Webb tied for second place. Elijah Robinson placed ninth. Ethan robinson also placed 19th in high jump.
Dollar finished 10th in triple jump.
Kevin McBride placed 18th in discus.
