Marion County baseball round-up

FAYETTE — The Winfield Pirates gave their traveling fans much to cheer about following their away game against the Fayette County Tigers on Tuesday, April 4, in Fayette County.
The Pirates, who came into the game with a record of 13-13, were looking to make sure they ended with a positive season record with the season coming to a close.
Brady May scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning after J.D. Ray grounded out to the pitcher.
Hayden Ballard  scored the second run for the Pirates in the fourth after Tyler Mays hit a line drive to the short stop.
Winfield  scored their third run of the game in the top of the fifth inning after May singled on a line drive to center field, allowing B. McCaleb to run safely home.
Fayette was able to earn a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth, but Winfield kept them at arm’s length with two more runs in the top of the sixth.
Kruz Box scored after an error following a hit from Spencer Haney.
Blaine Bowen grounded out to second base, allowing Haney to score.
The Pirates were able to hold Fayette off for the remainder of the game, giving pitcher Ray the win for the night.
Ray surrendered just one run on six hits over the seven innings. He struck out three players and walked just one.
May was one of the top performers for the Pirates at the plate, earning two hits in his four appearances at bat.
Elsewhere, the Hamilton Aggies lost 6-1 to the Russellville Golden Tigers in Russellville.
The Aggies got off to a slow start in the game and gave up five runs by the sixth inning.
Caden Foltz was on the mound for the Aggies. He pitched two innings, allowing one run and zero hits.
Brodie Moody, Mason Holloway and Payton Purser all acted as relief pitchers throughout the game.
Cannon Spiller and Dalton Davis both got hits at their at-bats, with Houston Tibbs the only player to make it to home plate.
Marion County High School played twice against the Lynn Bears on April 4.
MCHS lost their first game 7-3 but won their second game against the Bears 8-4.
In the second game,  MCHS was able to keep the bats hot with Brooks Junkin, Zach Lamoureux, Tye Madison, R. Harris and Sam Williams all getting hits during the game.
The Hackleburg Panthers got a big win against Vina 10-0 on April 5.
Brilliant lost 22-3 against Hubbertville on April 4.
Brilliant lost both of their games against Belgreen 12-2 and 14-3.
