Lady Red Raiders win NAC Tournament

The Marion County High School Lady Red Raiders’ varsity basketball team won the 2024 NAC Tournament at home in Guin on Saturday, Dec. 14, in a 68-49 victory over the Hackleburg Lady Lions. The Hubbertville Lions defeated the Hackleburg Panthers 63-51 in the final game of the boys’ NAC Tournament later that day. Pictured, front row, left to right are Lila Johnson, Alecia Shack-Donaldson, Zella Williams, Lily Robinson and Bekah Junkin; back row, Assistant Coach Porshia Lipsey, Emma Arnold, Head Coach Scott Veal, Adrian Randolph, Jolie Kate Cox, Addisyn Randolph, Kaylee Webb and Assistant Coach Lexie Jordan.

GUIN — The Marion County High School Lady Red Raiders won the 2024 North Alabama Conference Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 14, in a 68-49 victory over the Hubbertville Lady Lions.
The tournament began on Thursday night, Dec. 12. The first round featured matchups between Phillips and Berry, Hackleburg and Lynn and Brilliant and Hubbertville.
Brilliant’s girls won their game 67-46, but the boys lost 82-43. During the girls’ game, Brilliant’s Hadlee Sanderson scored 46 points, setting a new school record for the most points scored in a single game.
Phillips’ boys beat Berry 47-36, and the boys’ team also won 88-74.
Hackleburg’s boys beat the Lynn Bears 57-41, and the Lady Panthers won 49-27.
Marion County entered the picture in the second round to face Brilliant and Hackleburg in the girls’ tournament, and Hackleburg and Hubbertville in the boys’ tournament.
The Lady Tigers played the Lady Red Raiders on Friday, Dec. 13, and the Lady Tigers would be the ones to face the bad luck, losing 67-56.
In the boys’ tournament, the Hubbertville Lions defeated the Red Raiders 71-62 after a close game.
