Truck fire quickly extinguished

The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a tractor-trailer fire at 5 a.m. on I-22’s westbound Exit 7 on Friday, Feb. 22. Firefighters were able to save the load the truck was carrying and the driver was uninjured.

HAMILTON -  The Hamilton Fire Department was dispatched at 5 a.m.  to respond to a tractor-trailer fire at Interstate 22’s westbound Exit 7 on Friday, Feb. 22.
The driver of the truck awoke to the smell of smoke in the truck’s sleeper cab and initially attempted to put the fire out himself with a fire extinguisher. After his own attempts to quell the flames, he immediately called emergency services to which the Hamilton Fire Department, Hamilton Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Department  all responded to put out the fire and provide traffic support during their efforts to save the truck and its load.
The fire department was able to save the load the truck was carrying and the driver was uninjured.
