HAMILTON — Among actions taken by the Hamilton City Council at their Monday, July 20, meeting, was a unanimous vote to approve a recommendation to hire two new firefighter recruits for the Hamilton Fire Department—Luke Bragwell and Ben Miller.
During the introduction, HFD Chief Matt McCracken explained there was a good applicant pool, but as officials worked through the process, these two applicants rose to the top. McCracken stated he was there to present them to the mayor and the city council for their consideration of hiring.
The chief said both will be required to pass the Alabama Firefighters’ Personnel Standards and Education Commission firefighter recruit school at the Alabama Fire College's Regional Training Center in Muscle Shoals, which begins in September. Upon graduation, the duo will receive their firefighter certifications.
