Sara Jane Franks
Mrs. Sara Jane Franks, 88, of the Pea Ridge community near Brilliant, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at her residence. She was born on April 8, 1937, in Winfield, Ala., to William Edwin and Lama Hathaway Thomas.
She was a 1956 graduate of Marion County High School and a devoted member of Freewater Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 38 years. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Sara spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her family. She enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers, sewing, crafting and baking.
Mrs. Franks is survived by her son, Randall Franks (Paula); her grandchildren, Christian Gillion (John), Catlin Roberts (Gage) and Allen Franks (Gracie); great-grandchildren, Garrett and Harper Gillion and Grayson and Addilyn Franks; her close nieces, Wanda White and Beckie Sims; and a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by her husband, William Garrison Franks; her son Mike Franks; and siblings, Bud, Frank, Jeff, Irene and Edwina.
Funeral services for Mrs. Franks were held on Oct. 6, 2025, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Green Springs Cemetery.
