HAMILTON — The Hamilton Police Department announces the promotion of Kieran Jackson, Richard Trimm and Chris Norris to the rank of corporal, serving as shift supervisors in our patrol division. This was voted on and approved at the Feb. 17 Hamilton City Council meeting.
Achieving 24/7 shift supervision has been a key objective of mine, and with these promotions, we have achieved that goal. Each shift will now be composed of two patrolmen and a shift supervisor, ensuring leadership and operational efficiency around-the-clock.
Our patrol officers operate on four 12-hour shifts: Alpha Day, Bravo Day, Alpha Night and Bravo Night.
With the promotion of Heath Jackson a couple of months prior, these recent promotions ensure there is now a supervisor on each shift.
Chain of command is extremely important to me. It establishes the structure and accountability necessary for constructive criticism, learning and correction when mistakes are made.
Titles and ranks within the Hamilton Police Department come with responsibility. I do not believe in promoting someone merely to give them a title without expecting them to take on additional duties and leadership. Those who hold titles must have a clear sense of purpose and worth within their roles.
However, it is equally important to recognize you don’t need a rank or a title to be a leader. Leadership is demonstrated through actions, commitment and integrity. I expect every member of this department to lead by example, regardless of rank.
