Tami Lewis Williams; running for Hamilton mayor

HAMILTON — Known to many as Tami from Dr. Rice’s office, I am the daughter of Dr. Susan Rice and Dwayne Lewis. A graduate of Hamilton High School and the University of North Alabama, I am married to Chris Williams and mother to Connar Franklin and Eli and Morgan Williams.
As a councilmember from 2012-2020, I was not afraid to ask questions, defend my vote and stand alone when I knew I was right.  As your mayor my strategy will be straightforward: I will identify the objective and the intended outcome, determine if this is a want or a need, set a timeline for completion, gather information (consult with counsel, individuals and ordinances), present the council with a legally sound item to vote on and make my decision grounded in truth with needs before wants. I will be open and accessible to answer questions and hear suggestions. I have both long-range and short-term goals concerning everything from Animals-Zoning.
• I can honestly say that I know the ordinances that govern Hamilton as well or better than anyone employed with the city. I know that there is need for consolidation and revision and am already addressing this.
• Our water and sewer systems have many costly repairs pending, and I am a strong proponent of regular maintenance to lessen these expenditures in the future.
• I believe that the city employees are vital to our progress. I will expect a lot and present to the council programs and classes to further their abilities to serve Hamilton.  
• Using my knowledge as a certified grant writer, I will pursue grants and be a good steward of the city assets.
• Realizing not everyone has Facebook, I will propose an All Call System.
• I will explore avenues of gratitude for the businesses who have built this town, not just newcomers.
