Valerie Jones

Valerie Lynn Jones was born to Sandra Guthrie McPhail in Falmouth, Mass., on April 16, 1975.
She moved to Haleyville, Ala., in 1978, where she attended school and graduated from Haleyville High School in 1993. She graduated with an associate’s degree in medical lab technology from Northwest Shoals Community College. She was employed as a medical lab technician at Red Bay Hospital.
She married David Earl Jones on March 26, 1994, and birthed her first child, Kaitlynn Marie, on Jan. 11, 1995. She birthed two more children, Samuel David on March 26, 2005, and Abby Grace on Feb. 6, 2007.
She was a God-fearing Christian woman whose love for the Lord extended out to everyone she ever met. She was an active member of South Hamilton Baptist Church where she served as the secretary. Her love for her family surpassed all expectation. She was an encourager, a caregiver, a role model, a fighter, a caring friend and a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was diagnosed with cancer in May 2023. She went home to be with the Lord on June 30, 2025.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, David Jones; children, Abby Jones, Sam Jones and Kaitlynn Bryant; mother, Sandra McPhail; mother-in-law, Peggy Jones; sister, Diane Hyde (Nathanael); two grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, David McPhail; grandmother, Inez King; and father-in-law, David Wayne Jones.
Funeral services were held on July 6, 2025, at South Hamilton Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Box and Bro. William Fowler officiating.
