First year anniversary for historic photos

By P.J. Gossett
This edition marks the first year anniversary of including historic photos on this page of the newspaper. All previous 52 issues of the Journal Record included a photo here.
We have had several positive feedback responses regarding the photos, and we are happy this was a successful endeavor. Several individuals have been gracious with letting us scan and use their photos. We thank each and every one of you.
While we have many photos for future editions, none of them are for places like Hackleburg, Bear Creek or even Guin. We would like to take this opportunity to encourage people to submit photos to us from these areas. We will gladly take photos from every section of the county, but we try not to run a photo from the same place two weeks in a row. We like the variety, and we’re sure the readers do too!
As a reminder too, we can scan these photos at the office without keeping them. If someone brings in a photo, we can have it scanned and back to that person in just a couple of minutes. We try not to take photocopies or a picture of a picture, as we want the best quality we can get. Not only are these photos being preserved and archived in the newspapers, but we are also keeping backup copies of the photos.
We look forward to seeing what new old photos the next year will bring.
Bring pictures to scan to our office at 401 State Highway 17 in Hamilton, beside Marion County Co-Op. Photos can also be e-mailed to peter@myjrpaper.com.
