Susan Jeanette Gillion
Mrs. Susan Jeanette Gillion, 76, of Winfield, passed away at her residence on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Mrs. Gillion was born on Aug. 17, 1949, in Boliver, Tenn., to J.C. and Ruby Purtle Baxter.
Susan attended school until 10th grade but later earned her GED online, which she was very proud of. Susan was a member of Goldmine Church of Christ. She spent her career as a seamstress, working with Clifford Industry and Isra-Tek Industry. After retirement, she enjoyed spending her time thrifting, going out to eat and watching The Three Stooges on television. She also enjoyed keeping up her home and, most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Gillion is survived by her husband, Charles Gillion; her children, Glenn Gillion, Robert Gillion (Marcia), Gary Gillion (Selina), John Gillion (Christian) and Shelley Williams (Scott); her grandchildren, Cody, Brandon and Chad Gillion, Ashley Atkinson, Mattea Miles, Elise and Ember Gillion, Gage Thompson and Garrett and Harper Gillion; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, James Baxter; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mrs. Gillion was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gillion will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 3 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-3 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
