Dot Miles

Mrs. Dortha Jean Miles, better known as “Dot,” 96, of Winfield, passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Miles was born in Rock City, Ala., on Oct. 25, 1928, to John Thomas and Hattie Lou Ingle Weeks. She was a charter member of Faith Church and a 1946 graduate of Winfield High School. Dot worked for a number of businesses throughout the years but was best remembered as owner and operator of The Carriage House of Winfield where she spent more than 30 years before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, quilting and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Miles is survived by her children, Kayron Silas (Rebel), Gregg Miles (Terri) and Scott Miles (Cindy); grandchildren, Heather Silas, Chanda Bartlett (Joel), Jessica Miles, Adam Miles (Mallory), Landon Miles (Megan), Jared Miles (Hillary), Alyssa Webb (David) and Caleb Miles (Victoria); great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Nate Royle, Ella Rose, Leida Kay, Izzy Mae and Silas Wayne Bartlett, Taylor and Tristen Wallace, Rigsby Cook, Carter, Asher, Harper, Emmy, Weston, Mary Elle, Madeline and William Miles, Sadie Ann and Shepherd Webb and Cooper, Ella and Maverick Miles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Miles; her son, Terry Miles; granddaughter, Danielle Miles; infant great-grandson, Skylar Wallace; and 11 siblings.
Funeral services for Mrs. Miles were held on Jan. 30, 2025, at Faith Church with burial following in the Northwest Alabama Memorial Gardens.
