HAMILTON — We’d like to remind all veterans and their families of the “Third Annual Marion County Veterans Day Program” on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bevill Business & Community Center on the campus of Bevill State Community College-Hamilton at 1333 Military St. S., Hamilton, AL 35570.
The event is open to all veterans, their families and friends from all across the county and surrounding areas. “Everyone is invited,” officials have noted. “We want to honor our veterans and dependents who served our country and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
The guest of honor and main speaker for the program will be Army Sergeant Major James O. “J.O.” Duke of Hamilton. The Marine Corps Color Guard of Bessemer will also be making an appearance, among other guests.
The event is sponsored by Bevill and the City of Hamilton, with other monetary support from the Marion County Commission, Alabama Power Company, Tombigbee Electric Co-op and Freedom Fiber.

School programs
High schools in Marion County have all set Friday, Nov. 8, as the day they’ll hold their Veterans Day programs to honor those who have served their country.
The schools have cordially invited all area veterans to attend these special ceremonies.
Schools, specific times and program locations are as follows:
• Hamilton High School - 9 a.m. reception in the library, followed by a 10 a.m. program in the high school gym;
• Phillips High School - 9 a.m. in the Attie Fleming Building located behind the school;
• Winfield City High School - 9 a.m. in the high school gym;
• Marion County High School - 9:30 a.m. in the all-purpose room;
Brilliant High School - 10 a.m. in the high school gym; and
• Hackleburg High School - 12:30 p.m. in the high school gym.
