Dave Franks Sr.

Bro. Dave Franks Sr., 91, of Gardendale, Ala., formerly of Guin, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at his residence.
Born Oct. 5, 1932, in Marion County, he is the son of the late Howard Lincoln and Autie Lillian Maddox Franks and the husband of Patricia Lee Sturgill Franks. He had served as a foreign missionary to Brazil with the Free Will Baptist International Missions for 43 years. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lee Franks; two daughters, Dr. Suzanne Carla Franks (Dr. Rommel Melgaco Barbosa) and Regina Ruth Franks; a son, Dave Robert Franks Jr. (Rebecca Lynn); three grandchildren, Elisabeth Anna Hargrove (Darrin), Nathan Robert Franks (Alyssa) and Celeste Grace Nichols (Jasper); six great-grandchildren, Elijah, Junia, and Matthew Hargrove, Lincoln and Logan Franks and Abigail Nichols, a sister, Betty Sue Plyler (Robert); a sister-in-law, Iva Lee Franks; and a brother-in-law, William Hogan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Francis Anne Hogan; and a brother, Julius Oliver Franks.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9, 2024, at the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Bro. Mike Beckon, Bro. Mike Cox and Bro. Clint Morgan officiated.
Pallbearers were Danny Franks, Jasper Nichols, Anthony Prichett, Keith Rhudy, Milton Rhudy and Jason Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Plyler and Rob Plyler.
