Caleb Emerson
HAMILTON — Hamilton’s Caleb Emerson earned his way into Eagle Scouts on May 6 of this year after completing his project to renovate Hamilton’s Arboretum at the walking trail.
According to Hamilton’s Troop 56 Scout Master John Sims, Emerson began his scout journey around the time he was in first grade in the Cub Scouts. Sims bragged on Emerson’s willingness to serve and lead throughout the years, a role that the scouting program encourages.
“The Boy Scouts are a boys-led organization. The boys do everything. We open the door and give them a safe place to be and haul them to campouts, but they actually plan the meetings, run the meetings, plan the campouts, set up everything, do all the cooking and plan menus; every bit of it.
“(Emerson) has held many positions of leadership in the troop like patrol leader and senior patrol leader, and senior patrol leader runs the troop. If the boys come to us with a question, we tell them to go ask the senior patrol leader because he’s in charge. Then if he can’t fix the problem, he’ll come to us, and we’ll give him guidance.
