Dorothy Jean Hollis

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Hollis, better known as Jean, 78, of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at her residence.
Jean was born in Marion County, on Dec. 20, 1945, to William Condrey and Ruby Lee Peoples Hanson.  Mrs. Hollis was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and a 1963 graduate of Hamilton High School.  Jean was employed for many years with Munsingwear in Hamilton until its closure and then NTN-Bower Corp. in Hamilton till her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, Alabama football, going to church and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Jean is survived by her husband of 33 years, James “Jim” Hollis; daughter, Stephanie Sumner Higdon (Greg); stepdaughter, Beckie Hollis Sims (Bruce); granddaughters, Halie Daffron (John Paul), Peyton Higdon, Alex Higdon Jones (Nick); great-grandchildren, Sumner Daffron, Stone Daffron; special nephew, Kim Fikes; care giver and friend, Pat Flanagan; and a host of other family, church family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Lou Jefferys, Erlene Hanson Moore, Gerldene Hanson, Wanda Sanderson McMurry, Micheal Sanderson; and a nephew, Brett Guin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hollis were held on Dec. 18, 2024, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Garden.
