William Lane Emerson, 54, of Florence passed away on May 24, 2024 at ECM in Florence. Lane was born to Joseph and Sue Osbirn Emerson on Sept. 20 1969, at Gilmore Hospital in Amory, Miss.
After graduating from Hamilton High School in 1987. Lane enrolled at Itawamba Community College where Lane then transferred to the University of North Alabama. There, he completed his degree in fine arts/graphic design. After graduation, Lane begin teaching at Bevill State Community College in Hamilton. Lane was employed there as the only art professor on that campus.
Lane taught there approximately four years before returning to UNA to complete a degree in secondary education (K-12).
Lane won several times with art exhibits at Itawamba and UNA.
Lane was a case-aid contractor from 2001-2003 and was an art therapist for children.
In Sept. 1, 2004, Lane began his job as financial support worker for the department of hum resource.
He worked there until his retirement date Aug 1. 2012.
He was preceded in death grandparents B and Donnie Osbirn and Clarence and Rosa Emerson.
Lane graduated kindergarten at the first Baptist Church in May 1975. He received a Bible for perfect attendance.
Funeral service was held May 29, 2024 at the Hamilton Funeral Home with burial in Shottsville Cemetery.
