Hackleburg ends regular season 41-6 over Cherokee

CHEROKEE — Hackleburg has made their ninth win in a row, is now 9-1 (7-0) in 1A Region 8 play and will enter the first round of playoffs Thursday night at home against Marion County. Hackleburg came away with a 41-6 win over Cherokee Thursday, Nov. 2.
Cherokee received the kickoff but was forced to punt. Davin Dulaney carried the ball to the end zone for Hackleburg’s first touchdown, after a 65 yard drive and 52 yard run. The PAT attempt was no good, but Hackleburg lead 6-0.
Cherokee let the downs turnover at about their own 10 yard line setting up the Panthers in good position. Seth Ables carried the ball in, but a flag brought him back. He tried and succeeded the next time with the touchdown. The PAT was no good, widening the Panther lead 12-0.
Once more, Cherokee let the downs turnover. This time, it was Blaise Vickery in the end zone. A good two point conversion by Carson Swinney made the score 20-0, Hackleburg.
For the third time, downs were turned over to Hackleburg, and at the beginning of the second quarter, Austin Gerald took it in. A good PAT upped Hackleburg’s score to 27-0.
