freedom FIBER connecting 300 accounts per month

HAMILTON - “The question we always get is, ‘When are you coming to my house?,’” said Tombigbee Electric Cooperative President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Steve Foshee. “Well, we’re coming as soon as we can.”
Foshee spoke with the Journal Record over the phone following an event at Tombigbee’s warehouse in Hamilton on Thursday, Dec. 5, where the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it would be providing Tombigbee with a $29.5 million 50-50 loan-grant to aid in rural broadband expansion through Tombigbee’s high-speed internet service, freedom FIBER.
Over the next four months, Foshee said the newly announced loan grant monies will be used to fill in service gaps in its 200 square-mile service area—which covers and stretches into Marion, Fayette, Franklin, Lamar, Walker and Winston Counties.
He said the cooperative’s first focus is providing services to 100% of Marion County.
