Mayor, council take steps to clean up city

WINFIELD - The Winfield City Council took action at its Tuesday, Aug. 6, meeting to address the issue of unsightly homes and businesses within the city.
The council voted to appoint three new members to the Winfield Housing Code Abatement Board. Mayor Randy Price said he would like to see the board become more active.
“I know for the last seven years since I’ve been in office, it’s just been a non-acting board. I’d like to see us put that board back into motion and have active and acting members to help us solve some of the issues we have as far as abandoned housing, weeds and litter and things of that nature,” Price said.
City attorney Todd Atkinson asked for a list of the current board members and councilman Jimmy Hayes said that one of the abatement board members lives out of town.
