James Cantrell

James Cantrell, 73, of Guin, Ala., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2026, at his residence in Guin. Born Feb. 11, 1953, in Sulligent, he is the son of the late Shelby Ray and Ruby Girlene Finch Cantrell.
James was a member of the Love Joy Free Will Baptist Church. He worked for the City of Guin 44 years and worked for Marion County District 5 for 10 years. He enjoyed racing, hunting and spending time with his family.
James is survived by his daughter, Peggy Angela (Angie) and Kenny Webb of Guin; sons, James Ray Cantrell Jr. and Robert Dennis Cantrell of Guin; sisters, Linda Gann (Alex) Faye Hardin and Agnes Gann (Roger); two grandchildren, Corey Webb and Brooke Chaney; six great-grandchildren, Brandon Webb, Langston Webb, Noah Cahoon, Branzen Chaney, Damien Mills and Silvie Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Shelby Ray Cantrell Jr.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 30, 2026, at Veal Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Guin City Cemetery.
