Glatus Leon Pugh

Glatus Leon Pugh, 88, of Guin, Ala., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center while receiving hospice care.
Glatus was a devoted husband, father and Pawpaw who delighted in spending time with his family. His family was his greatest joy, and the memories they made together will be treasured for generations to come.
Glatus proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for more than 30 years, faithfully serving his country with honor and dedication. He worked at the 3M manufacturing plant in Guin for 41 years before retiring. He was also a faithful member of Guin Church of Christ, where he worshiped alongside his wife, Jean, for more than 60 years.
Glatus loved the Lord, and that love guided him throughout his life. His faith was evident not only in his devotion to his church, but also in the way he treated others. He was a friend to everyone he met, and his family often joked that he could go anywhere in the world and find someone he knew. His warm smile, kind heart and genuine love for people made him someone who was easy to know and impossible to forget.
Although our hearts are heavy with sadness here on earth, we find comfort in knowing that Glatus has gone home to the Lord, where he is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus. His legacy of faith, love, service and devotion to family will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1–3
Glatus leaves behind his beloved wife of 71 years, Jean Pugh; his children, David Pugh and Jacqueline (Robert) Doss; his brother, Joe Pugh; grandchildren, Kelley (Michael) Harrison, Justin (Jackie) Pugh, Kasey (DG Barnes) Pugh, Nina (Brett Bierley) Doss, Jeremy (Kayla) Doss, Deidre (Hazan) Monk, Candi (April) McElroy-Doss; nine great-grandchildren; and his loyal companion, Scout.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Elva Pugh; his brothers, Doyle and Gerald Pugh; and his daughter-in-law, Darlene Pugh.
Funeral services were held Sept. 24, 2026, at Guin Church of Christ. Burial followed at West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win.  Pallbearers were Steve Vaughn, Jason Smith, Jonathan Smith, Justin Pugh, Jeremy Doss, Alex Smith and Dylan Smith.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of the ICU and Hospice at North Mississippi Medical Center for the compassion, kindness and exceptional care they provided to Glatus and his family during his final days.
