HPD investigator resigns after recent arrest

Cody McCullar

HAMILTON —A Hamilton Police Department investigator with a great record recently resigned after being arrested in Tuscaloosa by the Northport Police Department.
Fourteen-year law enforcement veteran Cody McCullar has voiced his regret for mistakes he made at a Morgan Wallen concert on April 18, which led to his arrest for public intoxication and resisting arrest.
During the concert at Bryant-Denny Stadium, police had received a call about McCullar possibly being under the influence of alcohol. Allegations of using profanity and becoming aggressive during the arrest led to the resisting charges.
McCullar was put on administrative leave, but chose to resign before the local investigation could be concluded.
He has publically admitted he made a mistake, and he is taking ownership of his mistake. He has publically stressed he served in law enforcement for 14 years and made one mistake during that entire time.
He’s also shared publicly he has a lot of respect for the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Police Department, explaining he made the choice to resign to allow them to move forward and not have to deal with his situation.
