Danny Wayne Burleson

Mr. Danny Wayne Burleson, 73, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at DCH Medical Center. He was born on June 3, 1952, in Guin, Ala., to Dan and Eunice Pugh Burleson.
In his earlier years, Danny worked as a truck driver before beginning a long and dedicated career at Dodd Furniture, where he spent over 40 years as an appliance salesman and repairman. He was well known for his knowledge and skill in repairing appliances. After the store’s closing, Danny, along with his sister, became co-owner and operator of Southern Depot. In his spare time, Danny enjoyed watching Alabama football, spending time with his family and tinkering with tractors, mules and horses. He was instrumental in the early years of planning and participation of Mule Day.
Danny is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Burleson; his children, Brett Burleson (Dana) and Amanda Winborn; his step children, Chris and Curtis Johnson; his grandchildren, Courtney Gillion (Brandon), Carlee Otts (Zack), Cursten Tucker (Colby), Presley Olive and Ethan and Eli Winborn; great-grandchildren, Kailee and Hudson Gillion, Brantley, Levi and Savannah Otts and Dellah Reign Tucker; his siblings, Steve “Bit” Burleson (Janet) and Linda Dodd (Kenny); his nephew, Brody Dodd; and a host of other family members and friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew, Blake Dodd.
Funeral services for Danny were held on May 6, 2026, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
