WINFIELD — The Winfield Pirates secured a spot in the playoffs with a 34-7 victory over the Oakman Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 11, in Winfield.
The Pirates capitalized on turnovers, including a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, to take an early lead.
Winfield's defense effectively contained Oakman's strong running game, limiting them to 84 yards rushing.
Both teams struggled to get their offenses going in the initial drives of the game. The Wildcats' second possession ended with a fumble, which was picked up by Winfield’s Jamykal Hackman and returned 31 yards for a touchdown.
