HACKLEBURG — A change of date did not mean a change of pace for the Hackleburg Panthers. At their homecoming game on Thursday, Sept. 26, they showed they were the bigger cats when they won a non-region match up over the Phil Campbell Bobcats 42-12.
However, the game started slow for the Panther defense. They won the toss and deferred to the second half, giving Phil Campbell the first try. The Bobcats took the try and succeeded in a touchdown by Hayden Wingo. The PAT was no good, and the score stood at 6-0, Phil Campbell.
The Bobcats then recovered their kick and were set up for another touchdown. The Bobcats got possession on the Panther 44-yard line. The recovery woke the Panthers up with Blaise Vickery sacking the Bobcat quarterback. Phil Campbell moved the chains though and was able to score with another Wingo touchdown. It would be their last touchdown on the night. Their 2-point try was no good, making it 0-12, Phil Campbell.
