Board against proposed uniform calendar bill

WINFIELD - The Winfield City Board of Education unanimously voted to approve a resolution stating that the board stands against the use of a proposed uniform calendar bill during its regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Winfield Middle School.
The proposed bill would see a uniformed start and end date for each school within the state of Alabama.
“We believe the Legislature is going to come and tell us when we can start school and when we can end school  and I’d like to put this resolution out there that says we are against the uniform calendar policies,” said Winfield Superintendent of Eduction Chris Cook.
“I believe that should be a local decision.”
