Hamilton - A high school athlete is recovering after a medical emergency at Hamilton High School required the minor to be transported by air to Tupelo.
At approximately 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, the Hamilton Fire and Rescue Squad responded to a call of an unresponsive minor on the sidewalk at the local high school.
Hamilton Assistant Fire Chief Matt McCracken said first responders were on the scene within minutes and rendered first aid and assisted Regional Paramedical Services.

HAMILTON - Kayleigh Mariah Childers, a senior at Hamilton High School, has signed with Bevill State Community College to compete on the Bears’ collegiate volleyball team.
Kayleigh, 17, who is the daughter of Jamie and Stephanie Childers, signed with the Bears on Friday, May 14, outside of the Hamilton High School Library. She plans to study forensic science with the goal of becoming a pathological assistant in the morgue.

HAMILTON - School officials and local police were on high alert on Thursday, Feb. 13, after a student allegedly posted threats against Hamilton High School on social media.
Preliminary information from an on-going investigation by the Hamilton Police Department suggests the threat was made on a female student’s account as a result of someone out-of-state gaining access to her Snapchat account.
Snapchat is a multimedia messaging smart phone app used to send video and picture messages.

HAMILTON - “Oklahoma” will once again be performed in Hamilton in a partnership between the local schools and Bevill State Community College-Hamilton Campus.
This event will be open to the public on Monday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 3. Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Bevill Business and Community Center in Hamilton. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Non-school age children can attend for free.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Visitors viewing Alabama’s Christmas Tree at the 2019 National Christmas Tree display in the nation’s capital will enjoy ornaments made by Hamilton High School students.
Twenty-two visual arts students at Hamilton High School (HHS) have created 24 one-of-a-kind ornaments for Alabama’s tree display in President’s Park in Washington, D.C.

HAMILTON -  Hamilton High School senior Mariah Wilson received the WBRC FOX6 News Rising Star Scholarship worth $5,000 on Thursday, May 2, at the University of Alabama Alumni house in Birmingham.
Wilson is the first-ever Hamilton High student to receive this scholarship from the organization.

Several schools in the state each get one nomination for a student to be chosen for the scholarship program and students are nominated by their guidance counselors.

HAMILTON -  Hamilton High School students conducted the Third Annual Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Prom Promise mock wreck on Wednesday, March 20, in which students performed a mock car wreck to provide a sobering reminder for students to make good decisions during the night of prom, Friday, March 22,  at Hamilton High.
