Leah Shae Butler
Leah Shae Butler, 53, of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Leah was born on Feb. 7, 1973, in Winfield, to Clarence Wayne “Buddy” and Wanda Hallmark Butler.
Leah was a faithful member of Winfield Church of Christ, where her faith and love for her church family were an important part of her life. A proud 1991 graduate of Winfield City High School, she cherished her classmates and the community she called home. Leah truly loved her volunteer work at Sunset Manor, where she formed many meaningful friendships and brightened the days of those around her. Though she was born with a physical disability, Leah never allowed it to define her. Her determination to overcome obstacles was remarkable, and her strength in the face of adversity inspired all who knew her. She was admired not only for her toughness, but for her unwaveringly positive attitude. Her beautiful smile could light up a room and will be remembered by so many. Leah loved her family deeply and especially missed her mother, who remained close to her heart. She was a loyal and devoted friend who always put others before herself. She had a special way of making everyone feel seen, valued and loved. She was a shining example of what it means to be a Christian. Leah loved creating crafts and painting beautiful works of art. She found comfort and joy in listening to gospel music for hours, looked forward to Mule Day each year and was a true Alabama fan who cheered on her team. Leah’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness and quiet strength, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration.
Leah is survived by her father, Clarence Wayne “Buddy” Butler; aunts and uncles, James and Loretta Wyers, Tony and Margene Butler, Sammy Butler and Janice Butler; great-aunt, Brenda Blodgett; a host of cousins; two very special friends since kindergarten, Kanda Calvert and Holly Hogue; and caregiver, Melisa Todd, all of whom loved her dearly.
