Randy Thomley, Winfield City Schools superintendent, has announced his retirement, effective at the end of this month.

WINFIELD — Winfield City Schools Superintendent Randy Thomley announced his retirement during a board of education meeting on Thursday, Nov. 13, effective at the end of the month.
Thomley was appointed as the interim superintendent in July of 2021 after previous superintendent Chris Cook resigned. In December of 2021, Thomley was selected for the superintendent position.
Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Simmons was named as the next interim superintendent.
The Winfield Board of Education held a called meeting on Nov. 17 to approve posting the open position and approve the application process. The position will be posted online and at each school.
Once the position is posted, the board will have 180 days to select a candidate from the applicants for the next superintendent.
“I’ve been an educator for 40 years, and everybody says you’ll know when it’s time,” Thomley said. “My wife and I talked about it this summer, and I’ve been blessed to be in this system for over 20 years.
