HAMILTON – A project is moving forward to repair a deteriorating service road used by a number of businesses near Interstate 22.
The Hamilton City Council voted unanimously on Monday, Aug. 16,  to begin soliciting bids from contractors for the work to improve the roadway and drainage on River Road Drive, an access road connecting Love’s Travel Stop, Texaco, Huddle House and Key West Inn at I-22’s Exit 14.
The estimated cost of the project will be roughly $342,515.
The road is riddled with pot holes, making it difficult for motorists to travel. Love’s, which opened at the exit less than a year ago, has requested that the city improve the roadway.
Hamilton Mayor Bob Page says that one particularly large pot hole  near the road entrance has led residents to contact his office with complaints.
