JR closing Winfield office

The Journal Record office in Winfield is closing.
Marion County’s newspaper office in Hamilton will remain open, but simply due to the costs involved with staying in business, according to Journal Record Publisher Horace Moore and General Manager Jesse Lamar, the closing of the Winfield office is something they regretfully must do.
Moore, who is currently serving as Board Chairman of the Alabama Press Association Corporate Office, explained that this past year, all of the Journal Record’s bookkeeping was moved to the Northwest Alabamian in Haleyville, the Journal Record’s sister newspaper.
He noted that with internet, the Mid-South Newspapers’ family of weekly papers--Journal Record, Northwest Alabamian, Times-Record in Fayette and Pickens County Herald in Carrollton--all have access to each other and the public which wasn’t possible years ago in the newspaper business.
