WINFIELD — Northwest Regional Health in Winfield welcomed the hospital’s new CEO, Cathy Mitchell, during its 75th anniversary celebration on Friday, Aug. 2.
Mitchell and her husband, Greg, are familiar with the hospital and with the Winfield area, as they both lived in Hamilton.
Mitchell actually worked for the hospital in Winfield back in 1998. She started on the exact day the bed towers were first opened, which was also only five weeks after one of her children was born in that very hospital (she gave birth to both of her children at the hospital).
After working at the hospital in Winfield for 15 years as an LPN, Mitchell accepted chief nursing officer positions at other hospitals under the same parent company until that company sold the hospitals.
She was hired as the chief operating officer at a hospital in Winchester, Tenn., where she worked until accepting the CEO position at Northwest Regional.
“I think it’s a great honor for us to be able to come back home to the community where we were born and raised,” Mitchell said. “Both of us are from Hamilton, and we raised our children here; both of our children went to school and graduated from there with a great education, so for us to be able to come back and to continue the great care that the community has for this great hospital for 75 years is phenomenal for me. It’s the highest honor. They expect quality care, and we want to continue to provide that. If you can give quality care, then everything else falls into place.”
