PICKENS COUNTY — Marion County ended their regular season on a bit of a sour note with a loss to Pickens County away from home this past Thursday, Oct. 27.
Pickens County scored early in the game and didn’t let up, scoring a total of 51 points throughout the match up.
Marion County was able to respond with three touchdowns of their own in the game, but it was never enough to threaten Pickens County’s dominance offensively.
The match up ended with a scoreline of 51-21 in favor of the hosts, Pickens County.
Tye Madison scored two touchdowns for Marion County with two receptions.
Gavin Cole scored one touchdown reception for the Red Raiders.
Marion County passed for 155 yards and ran for 154.
The result means that Marion County sits at a 7-3 record for the regular season and will play away at Ragland in the first round of the playoffs.
“(Our record) is not where we wanted to be. Don’t get me wrong, we are glad to be in the playoffs, but we’d rather host playoff games than be on the road,” said Coach Kyle Williams.
Marion County will start their playoff run this Friday night in Ragland at 7 p.m.
The Ragland Purple Devils have a regular season record of 6-4 coming into their first round playoff game.
Marion County will be hoping to take advantage of any defensive weaknesses after Ragland’s last game ended in a loss to Spring Garden 47-21.
