Majority of area teams anticipated to win this week

My predictions from last week were mediocre. I was 3-3, accurately calling the Brilliant, Hamilton and Winfield games. Congratulations to the Phillips Bears for upsetting my prediction of a loss to Waterloo, and my utmost regards to the Brilliant Tigers for pulling off the win against Lynn in overtime. Maybe I’ll do better this week:

South Lamar @ Brilliant
The Brilliant Tigers (1-2) will host the South Lamar Stallions (1-2) at home. The Stallions fell to Lamar County 27-0 and Meek 32-26. They won against Berry 36-20. This game will be my hardest call this week, but I can’t not pick Brilliant with the effort the displayed last week.
Prediction: Brilliant

Hackleburg @ Cherokee
The Cherokee Indians (0-3) will host Hackleburg (2-1) at home. The Indians have fallen to Sumiton Christian (46-0), R.A. Hubbard (58-8) and Shoals Christian (44-12). Hackleburg will outscore Cherokee.
Prediction: Hackleburg

Northside @ Hamilton
The 4-0 Aggies face the 3-1 Northside Rams in Hamilton. The Rams won last season in a shutout 36-0. The Rams have downed Berry (37-6), Haleyville (32-7) and Gordo (14-12). They took a beating playing down a class against Winfield 32-7 in Week 2. The Rams will pick up their second loss to the second Marion County team they’ll play this season.
Prediction: Hamilton

Marion County @ Berry
The Red Raiders will look for relief this week after a convincing loss in Pickens County. Berry (1-2) picked up a narrow win in Hubbertville last week (8-6). They beat Marion County last year 38-12. I think the Red Raiders have an edge over Berry on scoring ability, though, so I’m going to put my bets on the boys from Guin.

R.A. Hubbard @ Phillips
R.A. Hubbard Chiefs (2-2) downed the Hackleburg Panthers last week 20-8 in Courtland. The Chiefs’ shut out Phillips 42-0 in 2020. The Phillips Bears will be the next victim on the Chiefs’ schedule.

Winfield
The Susan Bulldogs (3-0) will travel to play the Winfield Pirates (4-0) this Friday. The Bulldogs have wins against West End Walnut Grove (31-12), Carbon Hill 44-28 and Tarrant 56-0. I think this game will come down to defense. I’m putting my bets on the Pirates.
