Winfield 8U softball state champs

Winfield eight and under all stars went undefeated to earn the  2021 ARPA State Tournament Championship in Vestavia Hills at Liberty Park on July 10-11, 2021. The team not only won the championship, but  also received the sportsmanship award.
“This speaks volumes for the character of the young ladies as well as their coaches,” said Gina Bryant, Winfield Park Director.
Team members are in no particular order: Presley Burroughs, Madalyn Glasgow, Macy Green, Mollie Howell, Sparrow Hubbert, Ada May, Kayleigh Mordecai, Addelyn Poole, Olivia Porter, Layla Porter, Annslee Grayden Shipp, head coach Justin Poole, And assistant coaches Jeremy Porter, Evan Shipp, Mike Evans and Zack Wakefield.
The girls won three games, the first against Piedmont, which they won 11-4. In the second game, the Winfield girls defeated Center 15-11. In the final game, the 8U girls faced Piedmont again, handing them a second defeat, 19-13.
Winfield 10U all stars were the 2021 ARPA State tournament runner-ups in their division. Team members are in no particular order: Alivia Bolton, Heidi Bonds, Peyton Burroughs, Meri Butsykina, Abby Grace Channell, Dani Kate Franks, Kesley Galloway, Kadence Galloway, Bailee Gilbert, Stella Walker, Kaelyn Weeks, Head Coach Dannah Gilbert and assistant coaches Allan Gilbert and Joseph Walker.
They won their first two games against Arab and Albertville, but lost their final two games against Valley.
Winfield 12u all stars were the 2021 ARPA State tournament runner-ups in their division. Team members are in no particular order: Molly Kate Elkins, Jayci Griffin, Kylee Harbin, Kylah May, MaKayla May, Kayleigh Morrison, Rylyn spoke , Victoria Rainey, Oakley Shaw, Ivey Blake Sims, Shelby Williams, CO-HEAD coaches Judd May and Jessica Rainey, and assistant coach Justin Rainey.
"I am very proud of our girls, they came a long way and pulled out runner up in the state!” said Hilarie Weeks, the mother of one of the players, in a Facebook post.
“But I am most proud to be a Winfield Pirate all together.”
