HAMILTON - In an effort to provide students with continued education tutoring services this semester, online tutoring resources have become available to students attending all Bevill State Community College (BSCC) campuses.
According to BSCC President Dr. Kim Ennis, these tutors can communicate with students, review coursework, and provide assistance through the available resources on the online tutoring platform Canvas.
Bevill State Community College (BSCC) has received a “no recommendations” evaluation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) review committee.
The committee visited BSCC campuses and several off-site locations from Oct. 28-31 and issued an evaluation of “no recommendations” for the college following their visit.
BSCC President Dr. Kim Ennis said the evaluation results were rare and a tremendous accomplishment for Bevill State.
HAMILTON - North AlabamaWorks, in partnership with Bevill State Community College-Hamilton, will host the Worlds of Work Career Expo for Marion and Winston County students on Friday, Nov. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bevill State Community College Hamilton Campus.
This event will help students learn about high-demand, high-wage career opportunities available to them in Northwest Alabama.
Companies and organizations will provide hands-on activities in which they can participate, allowing students to explore potential careers.
HAMILTON - Brad Whisnant, Bevill State Community College-Hamilton HVAC instructor, is this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Award.
Whisnant has been at the college since 2007, where he began as a maintenance worker.
He received an Assossicate’s degree from BSCC in Dec. 1998, and a Bachelor’s of education from Athens State in 2016.
HAMILTON - Students from Bevill State Community College-Hamilton have successfully competed in the 2019 SkillsUSA State Championship held on Monday through Wednesday, April 15 - 17, at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center in Birmingham.
Students that were awarded first-place in their category are eligible to compete at the 2019 National SkillUSA Leadership Conference and Skills Championships to be held in Louisville, Ky. on June 24 - 28.
HAMILTON - The Marion County Commission unanimously approved the use of the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training lot at the Marion County Rankin-Fite Airport by Bevill State Community College during a regular session on Monday, April 14, in Hamilton.
BSCC President Kim Ennis was present during the meeting and expressed her excitement in starting the program later this month.
“We are excited about this new program opportunity on the Hamilton Campus,” said Ennis.

HAMILTON - Bevill State Community College (BSCC) has received a $4,900 grant from Alabama Power through their Good Roots campaign at Bevill‘s Hamilton campus on Friday, March 1.
These funds will be used to plant trees and fund various landscaping projects on each of the five campuses.
Bevill’s Hamilton campus received $1,000 from the grant and used the money to purchase seven Crepe Myrtles.
Dr. Kim Ennis, president of BSCC, expressed her thanks to Alabama Power for supporting the campuses with the grant.

HAMILTON - Spring 2019 enrollment for Bevill State Community College (BSCC) was lower systemwide compared to the previous semester, Fall 2018.
For Spring 2019, BSCC had a headcount of 3,317 students systemwide and had 29,418 registered credit hours, for an average of 8.87 hours per student.
Academic students numbered 1,604 systemwide and accounted for 13,673 of the system’s total credit hours. This means academic students averaged 10.21 hours.
