The Winfield Fire Department will soon be adding another fire station thanks to state grant funding.
WINFIELD — The City of Winfield Fire Department has announced it has secured $525,000 in state grant funding for a new fire station to be constructed near I-22.
The new station will allow firefighters to respond much faster to calls in the area around the interstate exit as it continues to develop. According to a press release from the city and the fire department, the grant was made possible through the support of State Senator Garlan Gudger.
“The new facility will be located off of State Highway 129 and is designed to meet the growing need off of Exit 30 off I-22,” Winfield Fire Chief Blake Farley said in the press release. “Once completed, Station 2 will provide increased response times, lower insurance rates and more personnel to the area. The station will also include dedicated space for a ‘Grow Our Own’
