Wyndal Wayne McCracken, 78, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Russellville on May 29, 1945, to his parents, Marvin and Leona Holland McCracken.
Wyndal served his country from 1968-1974 as field artillery crew chief and received a National Defense Service Medal Expert M-14. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He also cared for many families as an embalmer and funeral director before retiring.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 37 years, Evelyn (Carter) McCracken; children, Melissa Waldon (Brian), Marc McCracken (Kailia), Matt McCracken (Joy), Debby Pierce (Brian), Mike Green (Joni) and Chad Green (Tanya); 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Willodean Fikes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Leona Holland McCracken; brothers, Willford McCracken and Earnest McCracken; and sister, Maxine Pitts.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at South Hamilton Baptist Church with military honors. Bro. Ray Latham and Bro. Dwight Wilson officiated, and the interment was held at Barnesville Cemetery.
