HAMILTON — The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has again assisted the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in stopping crime on I-22 involving a high speed chase.
On Friday, Dec. 2, driver Zachary Holmes and passenger Demarco Buck were both arrested after a chase at speeds of over 100 miles per hour on I-22.
Holmes was driving a white Dodge Hellcat during the chase.
According to Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Jordan Carter, sheriff’s deputies stationed their vehicles at several exits on I-22 as Holmes drove eastbound so that he could not enter into Hamilton or any surrounding communities during the chase.
Deputies positioned themselves on I-22 after they received report of the chase started by ALEA.
During the chase, Sheriff’s Deputy Jarard Tidwell was able to lay out a spike strip in front of the speeding vehicle and puncture the suspect’s tires at mile marker 25 on I-22.
