Marion County has fallen in its Kids Count child well-being ranking again, down to 48 from 43 in 2019, according to the 2020 Kids Count Data Book.
The Kids Count Data report is published each year by VOICES for Alabama’s Children, based in Montgomery.
For almost 30 years, the Voices for Alabama’s Children organization has been compiling data that documents the environmental issues that affect the future of Alabamians, with a specific focus on children.
The data is compiled using Census data as well as other measures, according to the report. Each year the report is created off of data compiled from the previous year. Most of this report is taken from figures reported for 2019, unless otherwise indicated.
The group regularly lobbies the state legislators about children’s issues in Montgomery.
