First day of school begins in 36 days

HAMILTON - Marion County School students are expected to return to school on schedule.
Marion County Superintendent of Education Ann West says schools are set to open the 2020-2021 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 11, just 36 days from now.
The start date was approved by Marion County Board of Education members in February, prior to the large-scale U.S. outbreak of COVID-19.
“As we all know, any plans we make these days are subject to change,” West said.
Alabama school superintendents are expected to receive a “road map” for the upcoming school year during the School Superintendents of Alabama’s summer conference which began Sunday, June 21, and ended Wednesday, June 24.
