Debra Joan Banta, 70, of Red Bay, AL. passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 in the Generations of Red Bay. Debra was born May 7, 1953 in Jasper to Cefos Lee Green and Mamie Louise Markem Green.
Debra was passionate about many things like caring for children, not only her own but any child in need. She loved painting, drawing, and doing crafts. She was writing a book and loved to read. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family. Debra loved to sing. She wrote and recorded a collection of gospel songs. She and her loving husband of 35 years, Bobby G. Banta, attended the Full Gospel Church of God in Silvis IL. for many years where she played the drums, taught Sunday School, and started a ministry for the hearing impaired. She was an ordained minister with Assemblies of God. She always stayed strong and grounded in her faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cefos Lee Green and Mamie Lousie Markem Green; her husband, Bobby Gene Banta; and two sisters, Sherry Lynn Sandlin, and Virgina Anne Gunter.
She is survived by her daughter, Christy (Sharon) Banta; sons, Rick (Tanya) Banta, David Banta; goddaughter, Rebecka Vera; two grandchildren, Joshua Banta and Titus Banta; great-granddaughter, Brookly Banta; her brother, LeeRoy Green; and many nieces and nephews.
