WINFIELD — The Winfield Pirates’ season came to an end in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs when the Geraldine Bulldogs came into Estes Hudson Stadium and defeated the Pirates 24-8 on Friday, Nov. 4. The Pirates finished the 2022 season with a 9-2 record.
Geraldine built a 24-0 lead in the fourth quarter and Winfield was not able to put points on the board. Winfield was inside the red zone twice but failed to come up with a score.
