Mr. William “Bill” Braden Morris, 63, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, at the UAB Medical Center after a nine-year battle with illness.
Mr. Morris was born on Sept. 18, 1958, in Chester, Pa., to Nelson Morris and Anna Jarek Thompson. Mr. Morris was a 1976 graduate of Guin High School and a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church. He spent much of his life working for the Winfield Cotton Mill where he retired after 28 years of service. His greatest joys in life were spending time with family, making people laugh and the Christmas season.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years - Kathy Morris; children - Matt Morris and (Marcus) Leslie Morris; siblings - Joe (Marcy) Morris, Robert (Becky) Thompson, Margie (Joe) Pierce and Christine Collins; step-father - Leon Thompson; brothers-in-law - Grady (Cathy) Powell and Craig (Valerie) Powell; special cousin - Anna (Joe) Zajac; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his brother - Leon Thompson, Jr.; brother-in-law - Ed Powell; in-laws - Charles and Edna Powell; uncle - Walt Jarek; sister-in-law - Robin Powell; and nephew - Joshua Powell.
A celebration of life service was held on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Winfield First Baptist Church at P.O. Box 237 Winfield, AL 35594 or to the UAB Palliative Care Center in Birmingham, in Mr. Morris’s name.
