Miss. Ilean Myers, 89, of Brilliant, passed away on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
She was born the only child to Clarence and Cutie Norris Myers on June 3, 1933, in Marion County.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church for 68 years. She was a 1951 graduate of Brilliant High School and a member of the first Brilliant High School Marching Band, where she played the flute.
She attended Brewer State Community College in Fayette and was a 1977 graduate of the University of Alabama where she earned her master’s degree. After college, she taught first grade for 28 plus years at Brilliant Elementary and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Miss. Myers was a talented pianist, organist and musician that taught many children and adults to play the piano over the last 60 years. She was known to play the piano and organ at numerous wedding and funerals over the years. She was a member of server quartets over the years, including, The Joy Masters and several more.
She is survived by her best friend and caregiver - Melissa Millwood of Brilliant; and a host of cousin, church family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Cutie Myers.
The funeral service for Miss Myers was held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Brilliant Elementary School in memory of Miss Myers.
