Lady Panthers beat MCHS in 3 sets

WINFIELD — The Hackleburg Panthers defeated the Marion County Red Raiders in their season opener on Thursday, Aug. 19. The Panthers won in three sets: 25-17, 25-21 and 25-17.
Emma Harper was the top scorer for the Panthers with 14 kills and three errors our of 26 attempts. Avery Harper scored five kills with 0 errors out of eight attempts.
Madison Browning scored five aces out of 15 attempts, and ended the game with a 100% serve percentage. Harper scored three aces out of 15 attempts, and had a serve percentage of 86.7%.
Browning and Kameryn Cleveland stopped the Raiders from scoring 11 times each by digging. Kaley Webb and Zoya Yielding made six digs each, and Alex Hallmark made six.
Cleveland set up her teammates with 15 assists out of 50 attempts, and Yielding came away with seven assists out of 26 attempts.
