Two more state media awards have been announced for Marion County’s newspaper.
The Alabama Press Association (APA) released the results of a number of additional categories during its annual convention held in Orange Beach on Saturday, June 27. The Journal Record earned second-place for Division C for the 2021 Most Improved publication and as the runner-up for the Community COVID-19 Award.
Division C includes non-daily Alabama newspapers publishing less than three days a week with a total paid circulation of 3,001 and more. Submissions were judged this year by the South Carolina Press Association.
The association announced in late May that the newspaper received two first-place awards--Best Local Economic News and Best News Feature Story Coverage for its December 2020 front-page article Pick’n and Grin’n on Christmas nights written by JR General Manager Scott Johnson.
