Lenore “Lynn” Nichols Fikes

Lenore “Lynn” Nichols Fikes, 102, Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at the Hamilton Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Pace officiating.
Lenore “Lynn” Fikes was born on July 7, 1916, to Dealie Jane Gann Nichols and Amerida R. Alonzo Nichols of Hamilton.
When Lynn was 15 months old, her mother died of influenza. At age 4, her father went to work in the mines in Oklahoma. For a short while, Lynn and her sisters went to live with their maternal grandfather, Jim Gann, until the grandparents passed away.
Then, the siblings lived with their paternal grandfather, Rev. Larry LaFayette Nichols, a Free Will Baptist preacher and Civil War veteran. Lynn attended Ballard school and Hamilton.
In 1938 Lynn married Horace Olie Fikes of Hamilton. During their marriage, the couple had a saw mill, skating rink, grocery store, café, hotel and a trucking business all in the City of Hamilton.
According to Lynn, getting to meet all of the people traveling through the town while running the hotel was her favorite job of all. The couple also traveled all over the United States and Canada in their trucks.
Lynn enjoyed reading her Bible, writing poetry, working word search puzzles, attending church meetings/singings and playing bingo.
Lynn was a charter member of the Hamilton Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Horace Olie Fikes, and her son, Norman Joel Fikes. Her late siblings include Elsie Mae Nichols McCracken, James Clarence Nichols, Larry Lawrence Nichols and Belle Zora Nichols Fikes.
Lynn is survived by her daughter - Mary Yvonne Fikes Pugh (Jerry);  her grandchildren - Tim Pugh (Cindy),  Amy Fikes Warrr (Jimmy), Melonie Fikes Winsett (Shane) and Rusty Pugh (Brandy); and seven great-grandchildren - Tyler Pugh (Emily), Colby Pugh, Devin Nichols, Hayden Pugh, Anna Grace Winsett, Bentley Winsett and Paisley Pugh.  Lynn’s great-great grandchildren include Hallie Reece Pugh and Brantlee Pugh.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers, Ann Johnson and Marilyn Young, for their love and support.

Mr. Terry Gene Heathcock, 74, Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, in the DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.  
Mr. Heathcock was preceded in death by his parents - Robert Heathcock and Myrtle McCluskey Heathcock; wives - Rene Ingle Heathcock and Jean Payne Heathcock; a son - Gordon Heathcock; and two brothers - James Robert Heathcock and Jerry Heathcock.
He is survived by his daughter - Gail Gilliam, Winfield; sisters - Elizabeth Ingle and Janie Griffith, both of Eldridge; his brothers -  Thomas “Jack” Heathcock (Juana) and Edwin Heathcock, both of Winfield, and Mike Heathcock (Pam), Jasper; grandchildren - Coty Cantrell and Victoria Sandlin (Jonathan), both of Winfield; and his great-grandchildren - Allan Sandlin, River Sandlin and Shawn Cantrell.
Funeral services for Mr. Heathcock were held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Old Union Cemetery near Eldridge. Bro. Fred Baccus was the officiating minister.

Danny Keith Loftis

Mr. Danny Keith Loftis, 62, Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at his residence.
Mr. Loftis was born on April 23, 1956, in Foley to Dan Loftis and Wanda Faye Mills Loftis. He was a 1974 graduate of Winfield City High School, a United States Navy veteran and an active member of Winfield American Legion Post 100.
Mr. Loftis was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, James Norris.
Mr. Loftis is survived by his wife - Debby Norris Loftis; his sons - Derreck Loftis, Jacksonville, Fla., and Justin Parr, Winfield; sister - Tina Smith (Neil), Macon, Miss.; mother-in-law - Martha Norris, Winfield; a nephew - Tyler Lawrence, Winfield; and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Loftis were held on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win with Military Honors presented at the graveside. Bro. Ronnie Elmore and Bro. Gary Markham were the officiating ministers.  
Members of Winfield American Legion Post 100 served as honorary pallbearers. Tim Mansfield, Tommy Austin, Rob Bolton, Mark McDonald, Jimmy Smothers and Shane Hughes served as active pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church Building Fund.

Wendell “Buster” Stough

Mr. Wendell "Buster" Stough, 57, Winfield, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at his residence.
Mr. Stough was a 1979 graduate of Hubbertville High School, and worked in maintenance at the Winfield Cotton Mill for many years. He loved to coon hunt and fish.
Mr. Stough was preceded in death by his parents - Luke David Stough and Eva Mae Bowles Stough; a sister - Evalyn “Bebe” Stough Lane; an aunt - Dorothy Baker; and an uncle - Theodore Bowles.
Mr. Stough’s survivors include: Jane Berryhill, Winfield; his sister - Ava Hill (Robert), Hubbertville; a son - Joshua Stough, California; an aunt - Kay Roby (Rolland), Eldridge; an uncle - Delmer Bowles, Fayette; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Stough were held on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at 7 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Ed Nelson was the officiating minister.
A private family burial was held on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Fayette County.

Hilda June Wiginton

Hilda June Wiginton passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Russellville Health Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents - Arlin and Mozelle Wiginton; and her brothers - Hilburn and Hubert Wiginton.
Mrs. Wiginton is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was born in Hackleburg and was a graduate of the Hackleburg High School Class of 1950.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at the Hackleburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cedar Tree Cemetery.
The family offers special thanks to the nurses and staff of Russellville Health Care for the love and care of Mrs. Wiginton.
